You would probably have heard about HealthHub during our fight against COVID-19. Perhaps you had accessed it to check on your COVID-19 PCR test results or to verify those details of your COVID-19 vaccination status. Do you know that HealthHub can do so much more for you and your family?

HealthHub is a digital one-stop platform developed by the Singaporean government to provide you with personalised health and wellness information, resources, and services. It aims to empower Singaporeans to take charge of their health and make informed decisions regarding their well-being.

At Sire and Dame, we believe in utilising the power of digitalisation as a platform to safe and effective medical treatments at the comfort and privacy of your own home. In this article, we tell you all you need to know about HealthHub and how you can use it effectively as your digital healthcare companion.

What is HealthHub?

HealthHub is jointly developed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Health Promotion Board (HPB) to serve as a comprehensive online portal that consolidates health-related information, services, and tools. It aims to help Singaporeans manage their healthcare needs and helps to stay informed about their well-being.

HealthHub can be easily accessed on their website, you can also download the free mobile application from your App Store and Google Play.

Be it the website or the mobile application, you can access a wide range of healthcare services and information, such as finding nearby healthcare providers, booking medical appointments, accessing personal health records, tracking health metrics, receiving health recommendations, and exploring health-related articles and resources. The platform also offers various health programs and initiatives to promote healthy living and disease prevention.

Most Interesting HealthHub Features (And How It Helps You)

Once you know these features, you’ll be amazed at the convenience HealthHub brings.

Let’s review the key features of HealthHub that makes it the digital healthcare companion every Singaporean needs to have.

HealthHub brings families closer together

HealthHub allows Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs) to securely store and access their public health records online by using their SingPass accounts.

This feature enables you to have a comprehensive overview of your medical history, including test results, medications, immunisation records, and allergies. For example, you will be able to see your blood test records for up to three years.

You can then share this information with someone you appoint as a caregiver, who will be able to see records that you consent to sharing, such as lab test results and medication records.

The images from HealthHub below show how you can appoint a person as a caregiver in HealthHub.

Then, the person who’s the caregiver would need to add a care recipient.

Furthermore if you are a parent with a child under 21, you can add your them to your HealthHub, enabling you to view and access your child’s health records as well. No more feeling overwhelmed remembering appointment dates and keeping up with their vaccination status!

Currently HealthHub retrieves your health records from the medical record systems of public healthcare institutions. As part of MOH’s “one patient, one health record” vision, the government is providing technical assistance to private clinics to digitise health records.

Full instructions on appointing a caregiver and care recipient can be seen here.

You Can Book Appointments (Plus How To Jump Queue)

With HealthHub, you can book, view, reschedule and cancel appointments for yourself, your child and your care recipients. Of course, like everything you book online, it’s subject to availability, a bit like Coldplay or Taylor Swift tickets, or uni courses.

By offering a convenient online platform, HealthHub eliminates the need for phone calls and long waiting times. You can browse through available time slots, select your preferred healthcare professional, and secure your appointment within minutes.

Even booking an appointment with the polyclinic has become a simple process. If, and only if, you can get an appointment.

But here’s the top tip: we said it’s like concert tickets or uni courses. Remember the strategy – before the floodgates open, you’d have to be there. Every day, appointments open up at midnight. Be at the ready before 2359 hours so you can jump queue!

If you want a specialist’s appointment, you can also book it through HealthHub, although you might have to pay private rates.

Is your baby keeping up with their KPIs? Are they falling behind the curve? Or are they excelling?

HealthHub can help you understand this when you enter your child’s growth statistics. For example, if your toddler’s weight/height/head size is smaller or larger compared to others, it will alert you that it’s in the low or high range, and you might want to consult a doctor for advice.

You can also view immunisation records of your child, which are stored in the National Immunisation Registry.

Get Trusted Info About Taking Meds (Plus Order Refills)

You can access extensive A-Z information about medications, including dosage instructions, potential side effects, and precautions on HealthHub. Visual step-by-step guides on administration of medications such as eye ointments are also made readily available.

Information about medications are contributed by various public health institutions and the Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore. You can be assured that all information provided is credible and tailored to our local health needs.

You can also conveniently request refills to your existing prescription or repeat a previous prescription on HealthHub, sent to you via delivery. Saves time.

Find Your Next Doctor on HealthHub

You can search for healthcare providers, including doctors, clinics, hospitals, and specialists, based on specialties, location, and other criteria. The directory helps you find and connect with the right healthcare professionals.

Participate in Health Programmes and Initiatives

HealthHub offers a range of health programs and initiatives focused on promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention. These programs cover areas such as chronic disease management, weight management, smoking cessation, and mental well-being.

By participating in these programs, you can gain access to valuable resources, educational materials, and tools that support your journey towards a healthier lifestyle.

Review Health Articles and Resources

HealthHub provides a wealth of health articles, tips, and resources covering a wide range of topics. You can access reliable and up-to-date information related to general health, specific medical conditions, preventive care, and healthy living.

HealthHub offers features to track and monitor health metrics such as weight, blood pressure, blood glucose levels, and fitness activities. You can record and visualise your progress over time to better manage your health.

The National Steps Challenge was launched providing eligible Singaporeans a fitness tracker to encourage Singaporeans to stay active daily. Healthpoints can be earned in exchange for rewards that include a variety of lifestyle, F&B and grocery vouchers.

Limitations of HealthHub You Should Know

HealthHub, like any other digital platform, has certain limitations you should be aware of.

Technical Issues

While HealthHub aims to provide a seamless user experience, there may be occasional technical glitches or system maintenance that can temporarily disrupt access to the platform. These issues can impact your ability to use certain features or access your health information.

Limited Healthcare Provider Coverage

While HealthHub strives to include a wide range of healthcare providers, not all healthcare professionals or facilities may be part of the platform. For now public healthcare institutions are the main healthcare providers on the platform. With the move towards a “Healthier SG”, more and more GP and private clinics are upgrading to smart clinic management systems.

Emergency Situations

HealthHub cannot handle medical emergencies at present. In urgent situations, it is important to seek immediate medical attention through emergency services or by visiting the nearest healthcare facility. Relying solely on HealthHub may delay appropriate and timely emergency care.

Privacy and Data Security Concerns

While HealthHub prioritises data security and privacy, there is always a minimal risk associated with storing personal health information online. While efforts are made to protect user data, it is essential to be cautious about sharing sensitive information and to adhere to recommended privacy practices.

Not a Substitute for Medical Advice

HealthHub provides general health information and resources, but it is not a substitute for personalised medical advice from qualified healthcare professionals. If you have specific health concerns or require a diagnosis or treatment plan, it is important to consult with a healthcare provider directly.

HealthHub – Unlock the Full Potential of Digital HealthCare

HealthHub’s comprehensive features and services create a digital ecosystem that caters to the diverse healthcare needs of Singaporeans. By leveraging its capabilities, you can actively engage in your health management journey, making informed choices, and taking proactive steps towards a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Although it has its limitations, HealthHub aims to integrate various stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem, including healthcare providers, insurers, employers, and community organisations eventually. This integration facilitates seamless collaboration and information sharing, ensuring a more comprehensive and coordinated approach to your healthcare.

We see the potential of HealthHub as every Singaporean’s digital healthcare companion – empowering you with access to safe and effective treatments.
