• Reducing the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.
• Reducing specified risks of worsening kidney disease and cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease.

These uses apply to particular patient groups. Ozempic is not a general treatment for everyone with heart or kidney disease.

Is Ozempic approved for weight loss in Singapore?

No. Ozempic does not have an approved weight management use in Singapore.

You may have read about weight changes during treatment, but this does not mean the medicine is approved for weight loss.

How Does Ozempic Work?

Ozempic contains semaglutide, which acts like a hormone called GLP-1. It helps the body release insulin when blood sugar is high and reduces signals that cause the liver to release sugar.

It also affects appetite and how quickly food leaves the stomach. It does not replace insulin.

What Should You Tell Your Doctor Before Treatment?

Your medical history can affect which treatment is suitable and how it is monitored. Tell your doctor about:

• Previous pancreatitis: a history of inflammation of the pancreas needs careful consideration.
